After reading a great article by Rich Schefren about the need to stay focused, I realized I FORGOT that I had started this blog about 8 months ago!!!! Thankfully, because I had the forsight to keep a list of my accounts and passwords in Filemaker pro, I was able to dig up this blog.
Have I come further in my quest for finding fortune on the Internet. Somewhat. Have I learned anything in the last 8 months. Yes, tons. And a lot of what I learned, I learned from HUGE mistakes. I’m starting to understand what someone means when they say you have to fail a few times in order to succeed.
I tell my son all the time he doesn’t have to be perfect or get it right the first time. I’m not going to love him less. I should walk my talk. I’m not going to love myself less for not getting it right the first few (hundred) times.
So, I have 5 websites in various states of developement:
Easy Paper Airplanes was born 2 years ago as an equivelent to a “thesis paper” that I had to produce at the end of a 6-month long internet marketing course that I took. It’s gone through several revolutions and producing an okay amount of Google Adsense revenue. But even though it’s my first real website, I still have ideas for it. So little time, so many websites to build. More on that later…
Easy Appetizer Recipes is exactly one year old and producing a nice bit of extra money for me every month with Google Adsense. I also have some affiliate links, but not getting any sales yet. I need to work on that. I love this site. It truly fulfills me to see my list of carefully selected and re-written recipes grow. But again, it still needs some work. I also have Kontera Contextual links on some of the pages. Seem to be getting hits, but doesn’t pay like Google does.
Then there’s my Easy Coin Collecting site that has a few pages and needs TONS of work. I really love this site and want to spend more time with it, but jeez… the days fly by and I actually have to work for a living. That’s the thing. What I really, really want to do with my days is nothing but build my sites and get traffic to them. That’s all I want to do. Who knew I’d turn out to be such a geek????
I have a Kids’ Crafts blog that houses all my articles (and then some) for my newsletter that you get when you sign up for it at Easy Paper Airplanes. Sound confusing? Well, maybe it is a little. Check it out if you are interested. The newsletter’s called Paper Arts and it’s very cheery and bright.
And last, but not least is my newest and most favorite website right now. Soups-a-Plenty! is built strictly using Joel Comm’s Adsense templates and I’m excited to see how it works. I did a bunch of work to make it look a little better. (As much as I want to stop being a Graphic Designer, I’ll never kill the inner graphic designer.) More on this later…
It’s late, I’m tired, but wired. Need to quit for a while. And hopefully, I won’t lose my way again for another 8 months!
